Kali Sheldon, L.C.S.W.

kali

Kali is a warm, caring and energetic therapist who works collaboratively with her clients to ensure that they can meet their individual needs and goals. Kali's experience in both counseling and research a the University of Chicago has prepared her to draw from a number of evidence-based therapy modalities. She is not tied to one model, but instead flexibly uses whatever is needed most by each client and family that she works with. Kali sees her clients from a "trauma-informed lens," meaning that she takes the time to create a safe and trusting space with her clients and acknowledges and respects the impact of all of the difficult experiences that have contributed to their current symptoms. This allows clients to come to fully accept and understand themselves, and to fully heal. Kali strongly believes in family support and involves supportive loved ones in care as much as she can.

Kali loves working with children, teens, adults and families, and she finds it most helpful to blend evidence-based therapies with creative therapies such as art therapy. This helps clients express themselves to the fullest in order to fully heal. Traveling, reading, cooking, fashion, family time and walks along the Chicago lakefront are how she enjoys spending her time.

"What lies behind us, and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
